From Food Scraps to Garden Goodness
Food scraps are added to the top tray and covered with a damp worm blanket or newspaper to help keep the area dark and moist. This creates a comfortable environment for the worms while the scraps begin to soften and break down.
The middle tray is the active feeding area, where worms and beneficial microorganisms work through the decomposing organic matter. As the material is processed, it becomes darker, finer and more soil-like.
The lower tray collects finished worm castings, a rich compost that can be mixed into garden soil or potting mix to help improve its structure and nutrient content.
Excess moisture drains into the bottom reservoir as worm liquid. This can be released through the tap and diluted before being used around suitable plants.
